Some time from now you'll have kids. Those kids will dink with every switch in your car. They will move the dome switch from "door", where it turns off automatically, to "on". Your future wife won't notice this. You won't be aware of it until she asks you why the truck won't start.
That made me curious. Is there a difference in how the dome/map/door lights work between markets?
If I lock the doors with the remote, all lights will shut off, whether they are switched on manually or automatically.
Also, all dome/map/door lights switch off after 1 hr whether the doors are open or shut.

Is that not the case for all 100s?

PS
Not that I wouldn't like to have leds, if I could get to them easily and cheap.

Ok...received George's LED's and installed them. For the uninitiated: These are directional...if I would have read the written instructions George sent I wouldn't have had to e-mail him asking him why only 1 in 6 worked (now you know why I am not a gambler ). ;)

For others that might not be as mechanically inclined as some: I use a very thin semi-rigid putty knife to gently persuade the lense covers off. And a pair of needle nose pliers to remove the old bulbs and install the LED's.

And FYI: The courtesy lights mounted in the doors as well as the map lights take a different style lamp than the domes (wedge type)...so George's LED's won't work in these locations on a hundy.

Right on Spress. The map lights take the 168 bulb, same with the courtesy lights.

these are the bad boys I use for the courtesy lights. This particular one however won't fit in the map light housing as the bulb itself is too big.

guys, these fit everywhere there is a 5w wedge base bulb and are a really nice color that doesnt hurt the eyes and bright. I have them in my license plate lights doors and front maps.

They are the Polarg "High Power LED" model

they're directional so the light doesnt spread and get wasted like the regular bulbs. I really like lights (I have 10 lights facing forward on my truck if that means anything) so I wouldnt put something dim in, thats just not me. I'd like to install a red LED though in addition to the maplights to preserve nightvision.

Loud,

Where do you order the Polarg "High Power LED" model? I got some replacing to do.

Does anyone run a LED flashlight in the cigarette lighter? I thought this would give off some good ambient light and double as a flashlight? They were advertised in Overland Journal this past issue.

There was just an extended discussion of the fact that red light does not preserve night vision recently, either here or on the 80 forum. The discussion included links to some well researched articles. The bottom line is that night vision preservation is a function of brightness, not using a red light.

Before dropping the money on those, I would suggest checking out the superbright LED site. They sell a full array of lights at a far lower price than the Polarg lights (which give no actual specs as to the LED being used or the output of the LED). They are probably all made in the same plant in China.

For example the Superbright WLED-WWLX which fits in this application is putting out 60 lumens, while costing $9.99, half the Polarg price, for what appears to be the same product.

BTW, if you are trying to match the George's LED domes, the Natural white matches perfectly.

Super Bright LEDs

For the dome lights, there is no substitute for the George's LED's.

+1 for Super Bright LEDS. I bought PIAA Super Tera 4500 for my driving lights for 50 bucks which was def. a waste of money for same or higher lumens output you can buy for fraction of the price at SuperBrightLEDS.

Which lights are you running in the low beam and high beam?
