My head unit dims when the brakes or turn signals are applied. I have tried 2 different brand led brake light bulbs with the same result. Tried incandescent and they solved the dimming issue. Has anyone seen anything like this before?

I'm making a SWAG, ( Scientific Wild A$$ Guess) that the LED bulbs don't have the same resistance (significantly less than) the original bulbs. And, as the voltage is fixed, and Current = Voltage / Resistance
a great reduction of resistance would cause an equal (ratio wise) increase in current, hence stealing current away from the other circuits and dimming the lights.
......
Apparently I'm correct in my SWAG...

It isn’t dimming as in flickering or loss of power it is dimming as if you turned the running lights on. CarPlay goes into dark mode too

I am only able to comment on the physics of the matter. Best of luck.

Yea, I went back to "analog" brake bulbs as well. Took care of my turn signal/cruise control issues that I was too lazy to fix with a diode.
Just not worth the hassle. All other bulbs are LED with the exception of headlights.

It also dims when the gear selector is in 2nd and L
None of the other lights act as if the dimmer had been activated just the stereo

Cheapo LEDs do weird things. I put in some good vleds.com lights in mine and have had zero problems.

When I had LED bulbs in my OEM housings, my cruise control would immediately disengage when I used my turn signal. I never figured it out and had this problem for years. I eventually removed my ABS computer and replaced it with a small Bluesea fuse box since I already removed my ABS pump. The cruise control issue went away.

Not long after that I damaged my drivers side taillight and replaced it with Depo taillights. Everything works perfect.
