Thats alot of crap in there! Good catch!

A lot of that would have been covered by the cowel screen.

That is legionaire's disease waiting to happen!

wow, but the rest of your rig looks super sano! peeking under the hood looks spanky new

Shirley the PO wondered why the AC or heat didn't work except on recirculate.

Don't call me Shirley...............:flipoff2:

Iam not sure about the PO, I think he meant well, but was not a good mechanic.

I spent most of Sunday ripping out wiring for the front off road lights, and aftermarket Hella horns. His installation of the Slee wireing harness for the light upgrade had to be redone also.

I guess Iam going to have to tear into the center diff switch he installed also. ;p

I had that many in the same spot last fall, and I always clean it out when I wash my truck. It is not unusual if you park beneath the right kind of tree.

You should see the acorns caught in the roof gutters on both of rigs between Saturdays.

Yeah..it was getting dark, had to get them mounted. Maybe I should of used duct tape???

I plan on making a remote fuse box/dual battery set up..like I did on my FJ62. This 80's stuff is new to me, but what a pleasure to work on under the hood.

Great looking truck there Mark. White really looks good on a lifted 80. Oh and the leaves, Kelly's 80 ws also packed with leaves.....I can't figure out how they get in there in one piece and don't move? Mine were so tightly packed that there was a mark where each louver was.

Nice job on that one, there is a hose :flipoff2:

how do you bros get your engine bay that clean? i mean.... damn! i bought my truck 2 years ago and i am not the most anal :princess: in the world, but i wouldn't mind if my engine area looked half as clean as that.

any pointers, watch-outs, etc would be appreciated.

Live oak? Our trees produces so many leaves and acorns last year. Bouncing back from the hurricanes. Man, that rig is very white!

Any easy way to get under the cowl?

Dan, what's a cowl screen? Surley, you must know.

It starts with buying a truck that was kept clean. My experience has been when you buy a truck with a filthy engine bay, that's how it was treated mechanically. Next, you wash it frequently. About once a month I hose it down while its cool and I always wash it within a day of offroading it. I might spray on some biodegradable cleaner if need be, but mostly its just water from my hose sprayer. Because I have no leaks, there's nothing for dirt to stick to. As long as you stay away from dousing the harness and electronics under the manifold excessively and as long as you start it right up and dry it, you will be fine. I HATE a dirty engine bay.

The only way to get under the cowl is to remove the wiper arms and the 6 screws along the leading edge of the cowl. It will then slide up and out from under the windshield gasket. Be gentle and don't bang the hood.
