Has anyone tried to install a set of seat covers from:

http://www.trimcar.com/index.html

???

They want about $1000 for full leather all three rows. Looking at the seats it looks as though such a job would take a lot of time. My seats are cracking and splitting open. The wife thinks some kind of action is required.

Please let me know what I am in for on such an undertaking.

Thanks.

On first look, it appears like a good deal. Do these just slip over the OEM leather, or do they replace it?

A few thoughts come to mind; ie: quality of the leather; type, thickness, treatments used in processing, etc,etc The website does not appear to address the type of leather and it does not give you choice of leather type, just color (or I missed it).

Lower grade, thin, split thickness, or poorly processed leather may look great for awhile, but then start cracking, etc sooner than a higher quality product.

I would want to know something about the quality specs on the leather used; otherwise, it does appear to be a good deal. Wonder if they could just do the Driver's seat to match; we all know what happens to them.

I got a bid for $2,500 for full leather, I feel like the $1000 is worth a shot if it is good quality leather.

Then you need to read these threads. Or hit the search feature at the top right.

I have never sold a 3rd row as most never have use and you can also find mint sets for $200.00 So why bother? Also I highly recommend both rows and heated inserts.

The ones I sell are the best out there. Read some threads and if anyone still has questions please post up.

The prices offered look great, but there is no mention of the leather "weight" or specifications for this leather either (maybe I missed it). The one install I did see seemed to have some stitching a little off and there were some smudge marks, perhaps from the silicone spray used (though I would be happy if mine turned out that well). Trimcar gives you a three year warranty as long as you do not use silicone based lubricants or other chemicals on the materials. I am also interested in doing a two-tone to break it up a little and make it look different. I will give Trimcar a call tomorrow and see if I can get some specifications on the leather they use.

Thanks for all of the great information. I am also looking at adding the subwoofer in the rear compartment, lots of good threads on that subject. I just put in an Eclipse AVN6610 head unit as well as some eclipse/infinity speakers (just missing the lows now).

Thanks,

Mike

I think trim car will work well for you.

Good luck,

Mike, AATLAS uses katzkin products, which have an excellent reputation, in fact on several different boards I have seen people refer to it as superior to factory leather, and has excellent fit and finish. I believe it is one of two companies that most dealers use to add leather to vehicles as a dealer option, I think the other brand is Classic Soft Trim. Personally I would stick with one of these two brands. I wouldn't be surprised if Trimcar, resells one of these brands.
