This has happened twice now after heavy rains. Water seems to be collecting in the trim piece where the garage door opener panel is. I had dampness on the passenger side floor and cleaned out the sunroof drains and that fixed that. Now I suspect the windshield trim is rusting out and water is leaking through the top of the windshield. It could be a clogged drain again, but the rust above the windshield is pretty concerning.

I attached pictures where the water is leaking from. I also found a screw with a clip on it in the sunroof area by the left drain. Not sure where this came from or where it goes.

Am I due for some body work to get rid of that rust? I did some searching and it seems like I could be missing a rivet or two. I'm not sure if this is the original windshield.

I can only imagine how bad the rust is under the windshield trim. Any direction is appreciated.

I also found this weird orange thing wedged next to one of the lights when I removed the top middle area. What the hell is this?

Whoever replaced the windshield effed up the roof, that's why it looks like that. What you can do is get silicone, lift up the trim and give it a good generous line from end to end. I had to do that to mine and it stopped leaking. Just get enough in there that'll plug up any holes and also holds down the trim to the roof.

This.
I had to do that to my Discovery, peeled back the rubber seal, I used a call gun with marine grade silicone. Filled it all in, laid the seal black down, smoothed it out, cleaned up excess. Leak stopped.
The proper fix is rust repair. But on a old truck that you're not restoring...silicone.

Yeah. Seems like the economical solution for now. I asked a buddy and he jokingly suggested flex n seal.

Yeah, just did this to mine as well. I went with the Permatex Black Window Seal. I filled the entire area between the seal and the roof panel until it was over flowing. Then I wiped away the excess and went back and filled the gutter above the seal flap in case there were any cracks in that strip that could bypass the under-seal. Ran a finger down that to make it look nice and smooth. Did the same operation down but A-pillars while i was at it and so far no leaks. (and its raining really hard in south florida this time of year.)
