Leaking Radiator

It was almost exactly half that cost. I went ahead and got oem cap and hoses just to round out the pain.

Just on off-the-wall comment here; I recently read a technical piece on radiators. The bottom line was that while aluminum transfers heat pretty well, brass is still the king when it comes to staying together through the repeated heating and cooling cycles to which a radiator is subjected. Of course there is the original build quality which is probably more of a factor than any other thing, but there is a reason that brass was used by so many for so long.

ray I think heard my wallet curse you from the other room. Good point- will need to get one next week.

my rad had developed a leak in a previously repaired seam...I just got done putting a new one in and replacing all the rad hoses, oil cooler hoses and put the factory red coolant back in. I got my brass rad for $260 from A-Star Automotive otd...Chinese fingers would have totally helped! LOL! I also found some potential vacuum leaks to get fixed...awesome!

Well the Cruiser Mud network has once again helped ( thanks Pete) looks like a little road trip down south will save some coin. Cancelled new oem for like new oem.

Just a quick question, have you checked to make sure that your cap is still able to hold the pressure? I had the problem of my radiator leaking fluid for a couple of days and just swapped the cap and the problem was fixed- way cheaper than getting a new rad.

Is replacing a fj60 with a 2f's radiator as straight forward as it appears. I have searched and found Ige's thread only. Any thing to watch out for? special tools I should have? any help would be appreciated.

radiator.com is the cheapest place I got one there and less than 200 dollars
