leaded gas?

CAt and sensors like the O2 sensor..

Assuming that you have a 60, I would assume that it would be completely fine.

Would you reap any benefits from the lead?

The reason why lead was added, I believe, was to act as a lubricant. I don't know if that property would be beneficial in an unleaded engine.

No problems. I just filled up once with leaded gas, though, the other times I found unleaded.
Next time I will go with a diesel, though. Sooooo much nicer.

Don't certain types of aircraft with props still use leaded gas?

so you had no problems running their leaded fuel without a cat?

this is a hijack....

once I ran out of gas in BFE. I was in a Mazda 2200 and had a 5 gallon can of mixed 2 stroke chainsaw gas. I used the mixed gas, that truck ran better than It ever had, smooth, quite, etc.... not sure how bad it gunked up the engine, but It ran great.

That is crazy. I believe it, but it is still crazy.

Was the engine on it's way out? I can see how the oil would help the old rings, but what else good, other than lubricating valve seals, could it do?

not sure what was lubed and/or gunked? but that engine lasted another 60,000 miles after using the mixed gas.

Can you still buy leaded petrol in the US? Its been off the market here for years and even the lead replacement petrol has gone.

The lubricative effects of leaded fuel was to allow a thin build up on the valves to cushion them as they closed.
Once they put hardened valves in engines, leaded was unneeded.
Running leaded with a cat just destroys the cat.
Leaded fuel is also blamed on stunting brain growth in children which is why it was taken off the market along with leaded paint.

I don't think that 2 stroke mix gas would hurt anything at all. It is going to burn off anyway. BUt I bet you would have failed inspection when you were burning mix gas, because of the oil in the gas.

In theory, the oil would burn and leave intense amounts of carbon deposits on the valves and piston heads and whatnot. I do agree however that as an emergency method, it's alright and probably won't have any affects on your motor.
