If one takes the catalytic converter off is it possible to burn leaded gas? I hear that the reason you can't on modern vehicles is because of the cat. Or is there more to it than that? Just curious...

Herbert said:No problems. I just filled up once with leaded gas, though, the other times I found unleaded.
Next time I will go with a diesel, though. Sooooo much nicer.
Don't certain types of aircraft with props still use leaded gas?

once I ran out of gas in BFE. I was in a Mazda 2200 and had a 5 gallon can of mixed 2 stroke chainsaw gas. I used the mixed gas, that truck ran better than It ever had, smooth, quite, etc.... not sure how bad it gunked up the engine, but It ran great.

Was the engine on it's way out? I can see how the oil would help the old rings, but what else good, other than lubricating valve seals, could it do?
