So I'm grinding and sanding away at the paint to weld wondering if there is lead in this 30 yr old paint. I use a dust mask and will do most of it out in the driveway. So does anyone know?

I did know, but I can't seem to remember....I like turtles!

This can't be good.

I've only been ginding on em since 79, someone else may have more....wait, there goes a unicorn! :) :)

No mythological creatures here yet. They may show up when I start repainting :)

That seems unlikely, horse hair is the general consensus.

led

Sorry for poking my newbie nose in here but Yes there is a small percentage of led in the paint so it is advised to work in a well ventilated area and wear a mask :)

Makes sense, thanks for the info.

I never should have opened this thread. Although i used a mask,...... most of the time.

:D:crybaby:

Yeah, this tends to be a scary afterthought.

I was about two to three days into sanding when I realized that there is a potential for harm here, even with a dust mask. Fortunately I have been using a random orbital for the most part, which seems to eliminate about 90 percent of the particles.

I gave up on the dust mask when I sneezed a bright yellow. :bang:
