I'd guess likely sometime between 8am and 9am at the trailhead, +/- 30 minutes.

We used to all try to meet 7:30am or 8:00am, but there's a lot of trucks now and I think it's gotten hard to do so. Last year the trail leads met early and the rest of the groups met at the trailheads, which had pros and cons.

Ultimately timing depends a bit on the trail leader, length of trail, distance to the trailhead, etc. Also for trails which had 2+ groups running them the start times were staggered by 30-60 minutes

That's great guidance on start times and will likely be the same this year. At some point, we'll open up the list of trails for each day and each trail will have a meetup location and start time. In the past, this has run the gamut from each trail having specific meetup locations and times to everyone meeting in a central location and then breaking off from there. As of yet we don't know what will make more sense for this year's event but expect the meetup time to be 8-9am.

As far as returning times, there are some trails where you may be done in time for a late lunch (4-6 hrs) and others that could be much longer days (10-12 hrs). Some of the more ambitious routes may also have earlier start times but that will be clear in the trail information when the time comes.

Hey Jameson!

Signatures do help and glad you added your rig and I just learned something new about you. I didnt know you had a Conqueror. I have been thinking of setting up an off road camper run. BUT that is a topic for a different thread, not this one. The moderator here can be a pain :D
Offroad camper run would be great - my wife and I try to do several a year on our own to get away from people. Let me know when you are interested in planning something. We have scouted out some pretty cool spots.

Pleased to announce a new sponsor this year! Summit Auto Transport. For those traveling afar Summit can get your rig to LCDC safely and on time. Contact the team for special offers. @Riverrunner

Same here. We used them twice when I shipped my former 98 LC and my 06 GX to my son in Dallas. Very happy with Aaron's service.

So I'm starting to look at my route options, what's cool, whatnot. Thus far I know I want to hit the Cosmosphere in Hutchinson Kansas. It's the second largest collection of space artifacts, which is pretty cool. Before or after that I'm still figuring out. Anyone ever been?

Throw me on a very capable group because i am considering going into this stock, as it would be a great opportunity to test LX stock capabilities. So far the only thing i have done is sensor adjustment and maybe will only do tires/maybe rims by then. I am considering going into it with my current street tires, seeing as how everyone else will have enough recovery gear to get me out of any situation. This seems like a perfect opportunity to test her limits while you guys are around, so that i don't get stranded in the process.

Anyone think this is a bad idea?

Understand each item has a purpose. Sliders keep this from happening

Understood, and thank you for the reminder. I will consider adding sliders.

I think sliders, rims and tires is the most I'll be able to get done by then in terms of capability mods.

I really like the idea of trying to see how far the stock setup can go before i risk damaging things like bumpers/running boards/undercarriage components, but at the same time i don't want to hold everyone back if we reach a point where the stock setup has reached its limits. Perhaps i should spend some time examining the trails and try to get a better idea. Anyone have good sources for checking out the trails?

I’ll bite...
Yes. I think it’s a bad idea to run street tires on significant trails in Colorado with its volatile weather.

Re testing stock-tires...
-Not much to test that we don’t already know. It’s gonna put you at a disadvantage as soon as conditions turn wet/muddy/loose.

If ONE mod? -AT tires.
If two mods? -ATs and sliders.

Others might be able to pull you out like you say, but don’t invite pain.

-You can play soccer/football in tennis shoes...
...but it won’t help you win the game.

Your first idea was better...
(AT tires). Worth doing.

Re testing stock-tire capabilities...
-There is really nothing new to test with street tires. It is already known and established that street street tires will be at a distict (and sometimes unsafe) disadvantage wet/muddy conditions which can happen at any time in Colorado.-Weather happens.

If you do only ONE mod:
-AT tires.

If you do two mods:
-ATs and sliders.

It’s true that, others might be able to pull you out as you say. -Doing recovery is normal. But...

Put another way...
You CAN play soccer/football in tennis shoes... but it’s a bad idea. You will be wishing you were in cleats, and so will your teammates. If your teammates work really hard, they might still be able to win despite this self-inflicted handicap. But skipping the basics like the right shoes invites injury and frustration.

But we already know it’s going to be detrimental to the most basic abilities on the soccer field.

The basics= Cleats on the soccer field... ...and ATs on Colorado trails.

Got it, thanks. What would your third mod be? I put rims in there because the cost of ATs for 20s is quite a bit more than for 17s/18s, and i figured more sidewall is better.

Will we be doing any water crossings? Should i be concerned with raising the trans/diff breathers? I don't imagine us going anywhere deep enough to require a snorkel?

A third mod? -Used rims off Craigslist to let 18” or 17” give you more sidewall and air-down spread. Tundra take-off wheels can be had for dry little $.

An easy add on to go with that would be a compressor. Doesn’t have to be fancy or expensive. Cheaper mostly means slower, so if you are patient, its an easy add.

Bad? might be better ones just say'n. Participants are going for the scenery, friends and perhaps a few challenges not to be AAA for what may be an under prepared rig. Just an old guy's .02

Shouldn't need diff breathers. Please get AT tires. I'd hate for a summer rain storm to slick up the trail enough to either keep you off the trails or get stuck on them.

This is a much better way of looking at it than your first thought, thank you. Leave the testing to Toyota, I doubt (m)any of us will want to go on a run with someone on street tires just to test it. There is a very real safety issue at play for more than just the one rig if you have a problem and need to be recovered. That’s on top of potentially having a run/day ruined for the group by a rig getting stuck or damaged.
