hi everyone! i am new here to this forum. i am driving a VX LC200 diesel as a everyday car since last august. i love my car however, mine comes with standard 17' wheels riding on 285/65R17 dunlop grandtrek AT22.. i am really tired of the soft handling.. not my car do not have electronic suspension thus the handling tent to be very soft. i have a few questions here hope some one can kindly help me out..

1. i am thinking about changing to 275/55R20.. anyone tried this? will it make the ride too harsh?

2. if so, what about those lexus oem 18'? but will the one inch increase be any improvement to my on road handling/performance ?

3. my local tire dealer suggested i try out GT Radial champiro 528 UHP... i personally have never use this brand of tire before. did a search online but cannot find any reviews. some au website dealer indicated that this is a "ultra performance" tires.. wondering anyone have any experience? mind you, the price are very attractive compared to bridgestone (30% cheaper!)

thank you very much for your kind inputs.. cheers! - jennifer ;)

In order to answer, we will need pictures of your diesel 200, interior and exterior.

Also, which country are you from?

(Only kidding, hopefully some guys from Australia can help you out, only gassers with KDSS suspension in the USA)

a larger wheel will result in a lower profile tire, so yes, going to 20in will certainly stiffen the ride.

this forum is dedicated to off road use of landcruisers, so you probably won't find much help with street handling advice.

enjoy your LC.

Get different suspension... The wheels aren't the right way to correct your issue with the truck, firmer springs and better valves suspension is the key.

This is true.... however, if the sidewalls on the current tire seem a bit soft going with a tire that has a firmer side wall may stiffen the ride/handling just enough. This can be done with either a tire with a heavier load rating or a lower profile (20" rims). For example when I replaced a really "nice" handling tire (nice meaning gripped the road really well and had a car like ride) to an A/T with a heavier load rating (stiffer side wall) the handling changed considerably and my wife liked it much better as it lost a noticeable amount of body roll.

These are heavy trucks so a stiffer side wall should be fine. Then once the tires are correct for your application look at a better shock to firm up the suspension.

You are correct...I didn't much care for the factory spec'ed tires.
