Hi All,

I am at a bit of a loss what to do with my LC200 AB60. A week ago it stopped shifting into 4th gear (in either Auto or S modes). It throws the following codes;

- P0761: Shift Solenoid "C" Performance or Stuck OFF
- P2714: Pressure Control Solenoid "D" Performance or Stuck OFF

I did the following;
- Back to standard tune for engine and trans
- New oil including flush. It did have a light black film on the bottom of the pan, oil and magnets but no real steel shavings in it.
- New wire harnesses (there was some corrosion on the SL2 plug)
- New genuine SLT, SL1, SL2 and SLU solenoids ... the old onses all measured and activated ok but changed just in case ...
- Swapped S3 solenoid with S1 to see if the P0761 "C"/S3 PID moves with the solenoid (they both tested fine). The codes doesnt move.

It is still the same. Shifts really nice 1 > 2 > 3 then nothing ... it doesnt slip or flare ... just doesnt shift up at all ... like it would be locked in S3. Continues to throw the codes above.

So, I took out Techstream
- It can activate all the solenoids
- i tried to shift it manually and strangely Techstream can shift it into 4th (it even allows to stop and takeoff in 4th). Unfortunately techstream only works to 50km/h so I dont know if it could actually shift at higher speeds ...

Would really appreciate any help.

Thank you,

Alex

The code indicates a bad solenoid. Someone else has a similar solenoid error and it turned out the valve body in the trans was cracked and had to be swapped.

Thank you for the response. I do intend to try the input/output speed sensors and the valve body but, without a way to diagnose, I am scared that it is just a failed transmission and I am chasing throwing good money after bad.

Was the other case the same codes?

Try some forum searches. Sorry I don’t have the thread handy but it was within the last 6 months it so. I don’t know if the codes were identical but I remember a failed solenoid code and a transmission slipping code.

The FSM may have some diagnostic steps. I’m not near my PC right now but you can download the FSM image (there’s a forum link for that as well) or I can post some screenshots or PDFs this weekend

Another update (as per the other thread);

Some update on the progress on mine in the case someone needs this in the future;

1. I can see that this is not related to the output sensor. You can disconnect the output sensor and the car assumes the output RPM and freely shifts P, N, R, D, S, 1, 2, 3 without any problems or differences. So, it is possible that this sensor not reading properly can contribute to similar errors. However, in my case, with it unplugged, it still does not shift up.
2. The car not shifting into 4th may actually be more to do with it being in a hidden "Limp" mode than its actual ability to shift up.
3. I was able to change the tune to stop it from throwing codes and had some success in it shifting up but it still moves to a logged "Normal / Limp" shift pattern quite quickly without codes and then refuses to shift again.
4. The issue is likely something to do with its ability to build pressure (ie either internal pump and / or valve body) or potentially one of the clutches that controls the shift.

So for me;
- All Solenoids are in spec and activate cleanly
- New harnesses installed
- New oil and oil filter installed (and flushed)

Will not shift past 3rd (drives really nice and smooth otherwise).
