THIS IS WHAT YOU WILL PROBABLY POST IF YOU ARE LIKE ME, AND IF YOU ARE DOING THE ALTERNATOR ON YOUR 100LC FOR THE FIRST TIME. I HAVE COLLECTED INFORMATION FOR YOU HERE. I HOPE YOU FIND THIS. GREAT THREAD LINKS AND VIDEO BELOW.

**I Was hurrying in the summer heat, and using my phone, when trying to search the forum for a help guide on this topic of alternator just when my alternator suddenly failed on me, so my apologies to the forum for the redundant repost of this common topic, but I think the video below will be invaluable to someone if they find it. I had already started the thread during my little panic, so again, sorry for that.

Always happens to me on the holiday. I had headed out for a trip to my mother's place, and behold the dreaded battery light on my dash showed up. It can only mean one thing.. ALTERNATOR. I have a new Die Hard AGM battery in, and my grounds are good, recently did big 3 upgrade a couple months back (not including wire from alternator to battery, I never touched the alternator). I never changed out the alternator when I bought this truck with 261K miles on it, shame on me, but should have when I did my timing belt and water pump. I am posting here because I have a couple odd ball questions I think could help orient me to this job I'm about to do. Please see attached pic. I'm not even sure if the alternator is original, or aftermarket.

My big problem, is it's the 4th of July, so I'm not getting one today. I plan to see what the dealer has tomorrow, and I hope to have this fixed by either tomorrow or at least before I go back to work Monday. If it's not DENSO or OEM Toyota, I don't even want it.

I was looking down at the alternator from up top near the P/S reservoir to see if maybe my nut for the power cable came loose, but it's got what looks to be a plastic cover over it (see pic), that I see no easy way to get off without breaking it (see attached picture rounded gray plastic piece looks like it might twist off). Does that thing pry off with screwdriver or do I have to squeeze it somewhere? ugh, the heat is unbearable. Any tips anyone has to offer would be greatly appreciated. I've already watched the procedure a few times by different people on YouTube, so it does not look like it's going to be too bad.

Will alternator from LX470 of same year work on my 2000 Land Cruiser?

The job took a lot longer than planned really just due to the sweltering heat. I’m sure my garage was well over 100°. Looks like, my guess is, this was the original alternator with 283,000 miles on it

as soon as I started the truck after the new alternator was installed, my battery light has been gone and has stayed gone. I took an immediate volt reading With my AC on full blast and my highbeams on I was at 13.12 V and with the highbeams off and the AC off I was at 13.48 V and that’s after I hobbled my truck around for about a day and a half with the bad alternator
I still needed to drive to Land Cruiser From place to place to get my parts

I was able to get a remanufactured Toyota alternator from the dealer same day which was a small miracle. I paid $315 and I will get $75 back for the core charge.

It was tight, getting the alternator out from the bottom, but I did it

Thanks again to the I hate mud forum for the help
