i finally had all the work done on my LC and now she seems to be sitting very high (both front and rear) although shocks were set to no lift. i'm told by Radflo, who have given me the best customer support i have ever had, that it will "settle". anyone else had this issue?

brian,
thanks for your insight; most uselful!

the rear also seems a bit high, and i only replaced the shocks; didn't touch springs. how much lift does this look like to you? i was told it could be 1/4-1/2" higher. my issue is parking garages in Europe will be impossible to get into..

here's what a stock one on 20" wheels supposed to look like, mind you, i'm running 305/50R20's

and THAT is going to make a difference in the parking garages?

Surely Swiss parking garage regulations prescribe a minimum 2.1m (7') ceiling/threshold height like elsewhere in the developed world? Even lifted your rig can't be anywhere near that surely. If 50mm makes all the difference you are just plain doing it wrong pal. What tire OD are you running? Are your coilovers set at minimum preload?

Prior to my 2.5 Radflo install my truck had a significant rake down at the front giving that familiar bug squat look that all cruisers come with. After I installed my Radflo rear shocks I had very little lift in the back - maybe 10mm - almost unmeasurable. Like you I also kept the factory springs. The front was lifted by ~50mm giving me a level ride. Thus the overall height was not really increased at all. The front was simply raised to the level of the rear.

wow, you are very sensitive about your two inch problem.

Call it a 5.1 cm problem, might make him feel better. ;)

To the OP, are you absolutely sure they springs were not also changed? I don't know how you got 2 inches of lift with only a change of shocks.

He has installed coilovers so the springs have been changed up front.

KCKID: I'm wondering what the spring rate is on your coilovers. I went with 16" free length springs rated at 700 in/lb because I wanted to allow for a steel bullbar up front. Maybe you should have 600 in/lb springs and perhaps 14 or 15 inches free travel.

The spring rate and length should be printed on the side of the springs like this:

Dear Billfish, actually garage at home is the issue and would require removal of roof rack, nevertheless the installer will look at it tomorrow to make sure the front coil overs are set at the minimum height.

i appreciate your input and insight. it seems i have exactly what you are saying and will live with it as the gains are worth it; old suspension would not handle the power produced by the TRD SC. at this juncture the only solution i see is to swap the 305/50's for 305/55's and fill-in the gap.

again many thanks.

Which will make your truck another 13mm taller ...

indeed; removing the roof rack as advised by local dealer here. who also told me that due to generally low clearances they do not sell LC's with roof racks as a standard equipment, however can be ordered if wanted/needed.
