ALL WHAT OIL IS BEST ARGUMENTS AND OPINIONS IN ANOTHER THREAD. THERE HAVE BEEN PLENTY OVER THE YEARS.

I run 15w40 curently Diesel oil.

I bought the car a few years back with 283000 miles, but I think the pevois owner overhaled the motor.

I have oil in my air cleaner. Does anyone have advise?

Most diesel engines (even relatively new ones) will have some oil in the inlet tract from the engine breather which will increase with wear due to excessive blow-by. Not sure how it's getting to your air filter though. Doesn't the breather pipe connect to the air intake downstream of the filter, between the filter and the turbo? Just fit an oil catcher, as already suggested, if this is where the oil is coming from.

You seem to be in a hot climate Hartbeespoortdam, South Africa!

We run 15w40 in hundreds of 1HZ's summer and winter and our winters see -30*C and colder.

Run 15w40, 20w50, even 30 or 40 the 30 and 40 are ideal for climates which tend to maintain above 5*C temps. The "w" refers to winter or cold weather starting properties.
