Hi,
Just curious what experience folks in Europe have with their new LC with the 2.8L turbo diesel (same as HiLux). I am thinking about waiting for the purported same 2.8L turbo diesel with hybrid (car tax difference is HUGE). Having a 4 banger in a LC will be new as the past 20 + years driven HDJ100- amazing 4.2L TD and regularly get 800+ km on a tank! But the emission police are restricting access to European cities unless you have Euro 6 and not possible to retroactively fit DPF (diesel particulate filter). Thanks.. but still thinking about replacing 10y old OME shocks with Koni RAID.

I have had the hybrid diesel for about 3 weeks weeks now. The hybrid is pretty much useless, it barely ever charges or provides power or does anything at all, it's just there to power the stop start non-sense. The 3rd row is an abomination.

The start-stop system seems too aggressive. It'll kick in after driving less than 3 minutes, the engine will never get up to temp if you're driving in city traffic and given that EGR issues that the 1GD already has, I have a bad feeling about this, but hopefully I'm wrong.
Shifting up in low gears is quite rough before the transmission starts warming up, so there's that too. If I had the option, I would pick up the non hybrid.

I've had two DPF burns so far, at 200km, then at 500km. Fuel consumption is at 8.55L/100km.

Thanks for update-- wow that is disappointing to hear about how useless the hybrid is. Has anything improved in the past couple of months now driving? I am still amazing the wonderful 4.2:TD chugs along like a freight train and never complains. I installed the Koni Raid shocks and wow, what a difference that made from my 10 year old OME shocks. The truck when hitting bumps, potholes, off camber bumps etc. remains so much better under control. Expensive but confidence building-- the antithesis of my FJ40 hitting bumps...hah
