I don't have any experience with Hybrids. I could only find 1 video I found of it driving from the outside. It appears to sound like a metal grinding hum like a space ship. Is this something you can turn off on a hybrid? Video of sound.

Hopefully it doesn’t whistle like the RAV4 hybrid, it makes it sound like there is something wrong with it.

That's what it sounds like to me on that video.
If it's like the Prius, it will typically run on battery-only at slow speeds for a short amount of time.

Looks like it does have that annoying sound. I just found this in the Owners Manual.
Acoustic Vehicle Alerting System:
When driving with the gasoline engine stopped, a sound, which changes in accordance with the driving speed, will be played in order to warn people nearby of the vehicle’s approach. This sound may be heard inside the vehicle. The sound will stop when the vehicle speed exceeds approximately 22 mph(35 km/h).

Yes, they have speakers. The removal mod on some Toyotas is to add resistors in place of the speakers, probably the same deal for the 250. One could also wrap the speakers to reduce noise.

As for the sound, it’s relatively loud and annoying on hybrid Toyota vehicles I’ve seen.
