Believe it or not I have 18,000km on my lc and Ive never gone to fill it up personally...Today, drivers called in sick so I had a chance of watching in disbelief as the digits rose past 25 gallons on the pump...I live in a theft ridden country so immediately I told the attendant I think the machine is wrong, there is no way in hell it takes 33 gallons to fill up...Low and behold i look at the manual and it says 36.5 gallons! Woooooaaa never seen anything like it.... 175 dollars later! i out and about again...Christ I never knew how much it cost to fillerup.

ummmm what country do you live in....the US models come with about 22 gallon tanks....

I gotta get myself some of those drivers and their wallets...! :)

Jejejje the drivers have the company gas card so I never see those expenditures.
I live in Peru; dont really know what kind of market LC200 I have....It came with options that Ive never heard of on an LC. Pioneer indash DVD system with upgraded component speakers, and bluetooth, and Bridgestone tires.

What do you fill it up with?

The diesel version has an option of a second tank...it would give you 36 gallons.

He must have an aux tank, but that would require switching the filler nozzle to fill the second tank, correct? I did not thing the sub tank option was gravity fed, but actually had a transfer pump (with in-cab switch). How this would be listed in the manual is beyond me...

That must be nice however to have a driver with a bottomless company card!

Long Ranger LC200s

In some parts of the world, particularly the Gulf (Arabian/Persian), the Gulf Spec models have a factory auxiliary or expanded capacity tank.

Pre LC100 models had 2 tanks filled by lifting a lever in the fuel point to divert fuel flow into the other tank.

The Gulf Spec LC100 from 1998-2008 had an auxiliary tank that was fueled from a filler point with two holes. The tank had to be manually switched over with a illuminated switch that said SUB on the dash. The fuel gauge and low fuel light indicated the level of the selected tank. Their are two distinct tanks, two fuel pumps.

Gulf Spec LC200s have one filler hole, one tank, one fuel pump, one heck of a range, and a hefty fuel bill. It is very worth it.

Sorry I don't have the capacities available. I'll update when I can.

has anyone done (or heard of) a replacment of the NA fuel tank with the Gulf Spec unit on a LC200?

I think I should get a dealer to look at my fuel gauge, because I filled up two days ago with only about 1/32 of a tank left on the gauge, and it only took about 16 gallons to fill it up all the way.

not a gulf spec car.....It wasnt special ordered or anything...so thats why Im wondering why I have a 35+gallon tank....
I live in latin america, my buddies LCs dont have the 35 gallon tank either, so it puzzles me....

I noticed that a bunch too...it's as if there is 5 to 10 gallons of mystery fuel storage that isn't noted by the gas gauge.

Look at the long ranger fuel tanks.

I had the Long Ranger 180lt aux tank fitted by the guys at Slee. Before that, in spite of 15 gallons in scepter cans, the stock tank (US model) just wasn't big enough when in remote areas, especially off road.

The majority of Australian delivered LC200 in all badge grades come with twin fuel tanks for a total of 138 litres, or 36 US gallons.

There's only one filler funnel behind the fuel flap - as you fill up, fuel goes into one of the tanks and when it gets full, it must overflow into the second tank until that's full too.

Always a wallet draining exercise, visiting a petrol station.

Has anyone else had one of the long ranger fuel tanks installed? Likes/Dislikes/Costs? I emailed Christo about it, but they are out till Early May.

180L long ranger

ya all gulf spec petrol 200s come with a 93L main tank and a 40L subtank, with one filler and one pump for both tanks.

i removed the 40L sub and installed a 180L Long Ranger. it was a straighforward install, around 3hrs.

it works awesome. the clearance is higher than when having the spare tire under there. i get about 1300-1400km between fuel stops, despite having a heavy set up. in saudi petrol costs US$0.17 per litre, so filling up a full tank is not as eye catching on the wallet. i wonder how much range the diesel set up would get.....maybe 2200km:cool:

Do you have some photos during installation of the 180L fuel tank?

Thx in advance
