Considering the VLine2 for my 2009 LC, but these specs concern me a bit...

Android 8.1 with automotive user interface
Quad Core Cortex-A17 MCU 1.8GHz
Mali-T760 MP4 GPU clocked at 600 MHz
2GB RAM, 16GB Flash
USB2.0 x 2 ports

Android 8.1 was released in 2017 (!!!) and my understanding is that Android cannot be upgraded on the VLine2. Some apps either don't or soon will not be able to be updated because they may require Android 11 or higher (Android 13 is most recent release). The processor and memory, as well as USB 2.0 seem a bit dated.

Has there been any talk of a VLine3 with upgraded horsepower and support for more a more current OS?

Thanks.

I just asked this same question on facebook.. They have a Labor Day sale that ends tonight I believe. I'm so close to purchasing.. but not sure if there is something better out there for my '09.

If it helps, the 200 screen is probably the biggest limiting factor for modern apps.

I did get it, zero regrets. Pretty awesome actually. One thing is you cant scroll with a swipe.. but that's no big deal. Very happy with it. I got the lite version..

Can you still use the Rear Entertainment System while listening to music on the VLine? Currently, we will listen to music through the AUX port on the speakers while the kids watch a movie using headphones in the back seat.

I'd love to get Carplay, but I'd still need to be able to listen to music via CarPlay while kids watch a DVD in the back.

I'm not sure to be honest, my rear entertainment isn't working, previous owners not sure if he disconnected it or not. My kids are all about the tablet anyways, but it would be fun to have those working I suppose..

No reason this shouldn't have worked, but I tested it anyways. I have a 2010 with ML. The GROM unit uses the USB audio interface on the LX stereo. I think different year LX's use different interfaces (I think pre-2010 maybe uses the AUX instead of USB). I didn't have a DVD to test with, but I was able to play a music cd through the RES and hear the audio from the CD through the headphones while still using and hearing Carplay through the main system.

Great data point - thank you!

Anyone have any idea if this would work with the backup, front and side cameras?
This may vary by year, but on a 2010 it all works. It can be a little clunky with the side and front cameras, but the rear camera is mostly seamless. Sometimes if you go into reverse too soon after starting the truck, it won't pick up the request and switch to the camera. But if you change gear and go back to reverse it usually works the 2nd time.
