When putting my motor back together, a piece of the water pump's gasket between the pump body and back plate fell out...took it apart and made a new gasket. Works fine so far, but not expecting it to hold up forever this way...

My question is if a Clutch Fan(and pump if required) from a later cruiser will fit onto my '76 2F/ FJ55?? I'm about to dump the smog pump, and if the water pump leaks or gives up anytime soon, I thought I might free up aditional load off the motor this way??
Is this worth further thought, or more of a pain in my ass's future than it will be worth??

i have found the water pump body longer on the 60 series 2F, when i transplanted a 60 series engine in my old 55, i had to use the older water pump and fan to clear the radiator.

Going through the hassle right now of swapping older fan and water pump onto a newer 2F engine before I swap it into my '77 pig. I recently read someone else's thread here on Mud about this fit issue on 55's. Definitely not enough room to clear the fan/radiator properly. So I've read...

Thanks PabloCruise...the link answered a bunch of my questions... definately not putting a smaller radiator in my cruiser... imagine I'll need all the cooling I can get when I run the A.C.
