Curious to know how they are not compatible..
different part numbers. 2002-2007 end in 90 for front calipers and mine end in 80. Mine are 4773060080 and 4775060080. 2002-2007 for even after market choices end up being different so there must be something different in front end of car, possibly when wheel sizes changed? Mine came with 16 inch wheels. Something made them change it. Don't know what. Maybe weight of car not sure. Even the front AHC shock numbers change year to year as i know even 1 year later or even 1998 shocks/ battering rams won't work on my 1999. But ahc globes stayed same for all years.

Front brake pads also different part number for 2002-2007 compared to 1998-2001. Mine are 0446560220 and your's are 04465-60230.

I have with me currently a 98 100 series and everything for the front is the same face value from bolt distance, mounting, rotor diameter, caliper design. Spindle in the front ifs is also the same. Flexible brake lines length are also the same. I think possibly raw material used to produce may be different with the 98.

interesting.... ya i read online not compatible AFTER seeing part numbers were different. But maybe people are wrong. Either way for me going to not risk it and stick with part numbers for my own as that hasn't caused any issues yet. Ordered new calipers now as originals did 295,000 miles and finally one boot is ripping and some pistons are slower. Went through whole do i rebuild and get new pistons too if i find out issue with pistons after only ordering rebuilt kit from Japan...and ends up being about $150-160 ish or so for kit and all new pistons or just get new calipers from toyota for $390 total for both. And don't wanna risk with rebuilt by other companies after hearing from many their issues within 1-2 years. Anyway thanks for letting me know!
