Toyota, why can't you ship these awesome trucks to U.S. ? They would sell like hotcakes!

I know most of the reasons why, this is really just a plea out of frustration.

Sid

Ever emailed toyota about it?

I got a reply stating that because they only sold 600 some odd Landcruisers in Canada in 1986 they don't think there is a market here for them?

Do people actually think these things aren't as sexy as there s***ty new stuff?

Not sure if this is all true or not but I knew a guy that worked for them and he said they wont bring desils here because the quality of it sucks. No desil means way less sales for cruisers. There was supposed to be a 2004 tundra desil avalible in Canada.......still waiting. Sure sould like one of those new ones though. Can we import them here?

you are just mean, dangling trucks for us to drool over be never own...

seriously, thanks for posting!!

as for Toyotas comment about only 600 sold in 1986...what do they think this is? 1987?
time change and so do desires...wake up Toyota

Cool pics

 from California. I was born in Saudi Arabia. Dammam to be precise. Nice to see you guys get some sweet Toyota models. Over here in the states those are virtually nonexistent aside from a few rare imports. Thanks for sharing those pictures.

I think that the main reason why Toyota wont release the 70 series in the US is safety, or at least that would be their main excuse now a days.

Back in the mids 80s when it came out I think it was up to the minimum safety standards so I believe that the reason why they didn't bother to try and sell them in the US is because they might have thought that they were to basic or "plain", because lets not kid ourselves here, the 70 series is a no nonsense, function over form work vehicle and IMO there really isn't a real market for a rugged workhorse like the 70 series in US industry, the F-150 has been the best selling truck for the past 20 years for a reason, americans like comfort and covnenience in their work trucks.

I still think they could have still released the 2 door short wheelbase versions to compete with the Jeep Wrangler YJ succesfully though.

But oh well, you guys in the US get a bunch of other cool toys, you can't have them all ;p .

actually, the F250 made its reputation back when it too was a farmer/trades/work truck... it is loosing its reputation for moving away from that platform...

trucks are supposed to be trucks, not El-Cominos or Rancheros

Thanks for Posting those pics saud, sorry I can't type in Arabic.
Here is another work horse.

Hi guys
Does anyone have an e-mail address of a UEA in Toyotas FJ70/73/75 ( or the new denomination) ??

Groan...instead of these great trucks we get the Tundra which in its latest incarnation not only looks like a Dodge but is quickly getting a reputation as a POS just like a Dodge. But hey at least it has massive knobs for gloved hands!!! (sarcastic).
