Hi Guys, I am a new poster to the forum but have been watching other peoples builds and enjoy their progress and the comments of others. I have used the forum to solve some minor vehicle issues and get idea's in general.
It's now time to introduce the build/restoration of my 73 Series Landcruiser, progress will be slow as I don't have a lot of time to work on it but I will post updates as I go.
I am based in Victoria Australia, I am not new to 4X4 driving but do not have a lot of experience. I have had a couple of Holden Jackaroo's and a Toyota Prado in the past that I have used for work.
Through work I did a general 4X4 driving course and a course in mud and snow, both with DECCA. As a new comer to 4X4's at the time I found the courses very good and I learned a lot from them.
I have been over to Fraser Island for a week and traveled a little bit in the high country although I haven't done any extreme driving and don't really intend to. I just like to explore areas not usually accessible to the general public.
I inherited my Landcruiser after my father in-law passed away a couple of years ago, it has a 4 cylinder diesel engine and has sat in the sun for the last five years. It hadn't been started for at least 3 years before I got it. When I was given to me I pumped some fuel up and put a battery in it that I got from the wreckers for $20.00, turned the key and after a couple of cranks it fired up and did not even blow any smoke.
I don't normally name cars, but I call this one Frank in tribute to my late father in-law.
I am aware that he had the motor rebuilt in Darwin in 2002 and it would not have traveled more than 50,000 km's since then, showing 270,000 on the clock.
More later, let's see if I can load some photo's
