Welcome Kev,

No one will believe you if you do not post pictures of the "so-called" VDJ76! Everyone with first scoff, then shun you. Once in the shun zone it is difficult to escape.

Quick! Post up some pics!! :)

Its just gibberish to me but I believe Toyota refers to that engine as a 1VD-FTV …. Not a FTE. Beautiful rig …. Congrats.
Love to see more photos. 😊

Looks that way, some of the wiring looks off plus the wipers are definitely RHD
The location of the wiper motor and the orientation of the wiper blades caught my attention.

Hello,

Welcome to the madness.

If this truck started life with a 1HZ engine, the VIN tag should say HZJ76xx in the MODEL line. Otherwise, it is a VDJ76.

It may be possible that this truck was a RHD VDJ76 from factory and underwent a conversion to LHD.

Some RHD to LHD conversions are done properly. Others, not so much.

The windshield wipers' position suggests a not so thorough conversion. I might be wrong on this, though.

You may want to take a deep look inside the dash and the electrical system, as well as the drivetrain.

where did you purchase this in canada ?

Welcome! Nice rig, hope you get to enjoy it - though you’ll likely have some work to get there.
Unfortunately Dubai has become a major centre for fraud - fake VIN plates, rollbacks (every one for sale in Dubai is around 100K km), and „restorations” in which they swap some trim parts in order for it to look new. Lots of these vehicles come from Australia, which begs the question - why did they leave in the first place? The Australian resale market is exceptionally strong.

Your rig doesn’t look even close to a 2008, since it has the plastic dash and matching windshield.

Now, to be lighthearted for a moment - wipers facing the wrong way is not so unusual. Heck, the Grenadier is sold that way - intentionally - in Australia… 😂

LHD is definitely the way to go!!!!
