Dear All,

Greetings from Yangon, Burma, and I've got a KZJ78 1994 RHD JDM. Was wondering what snorkel that fits on this model and what ever mods that can be done.. currently will be in Bangkok for the next 2 days and wouldn't go around Pathumwan or MBK area after yesterday's event. Safari snorkels like ss73hf and ss75hf originals are around 12,000 bahts (345US$), But am not sure whether what fits in on this model. Been to VVP4x4, they couldn't help much and gave me these 2 models to check for myself. New to Toyota Prado KZJ78, as my previous car was a Defender 110 2005. Help needed, many thanks,

Zeyar

I used a Safari Snorkel for the PZJ or HZJ and moved and rewelded the pipe that goes thru the outer guard so it then lined up with the air cleaner inlet pipe. Other brands require you to cut out part of the inner guard.

Thankyou. I will look into these models.

So
With the 3.0L 1KZTE KZJ78 the 4.88 and 35 inch tyres work out and return it to factory speedo readings.
However the extra weight of the bigger tyres does load up the motor / trans a little more.

You can get 4.88 r and p for the diffs off the shelf to replace the standard 4.3's for the KZJ78.
The LJ78 factory 4.88 r and p wont fit into any thing but another LJ78 diff housing as its an odd ball one in the Toyota series. The carrier bearings are off set differently to the KZJ series and Hilux. Found out the hard way when I scored a set of 4.88 from a LJ78 and wanted to swap rear r and p into my 4.3 e locker... wouldnt fit too big a gap...(8-10mm) so had to get std 4.88 from the states.

Note: You cant get aftermarket r and p's for LJ7X with factory 4.88's.. (odd ball carrier)

At the time they were on special and only cost me $360 NZD landed.. Local off the shelf cost in NZ was $600.

I got mine from here for my KZJ78 !
Toyota V6 Differential Ring & Pinion Sets

You need 1 x normal for rear and 1x Reverse cut for front.
So do you know what is the ratio for Japan Toyota Prado Kzj71 mannual? What is the best ratio for 33' tyre? Thanks for answering!
