Looking for some help with a Mishimoto oil catch can I recently installed on my 1993 Prado. This is the first time I’ve used a catch can on a vehicle, so I’m hoping to lean on some experience here.
When I bought the vehicle, the valve cover breather tube was vented to atmosphere and the pre-turbo inlet was capped off. I ended up installing the catch can in line with that system, so valve cover to catch can to pre-turbo inlet.
I immediately noticed quite a bit of oil in the catch can to pre-turbo inlet hose, as well as oil now leaking from the fill cap and the PCV port (see pics). It’s like the crank case is now under a ton of pressure and blowing oil out of anywhere it can, including right into the intake where I don’t want it to go.
Is this normal ops for a catch can setup? Sure doesn’t seem like it, but please let me know! Should I vent the catch can to atmosphere rather than the intake? Or just take the whole thing out and vent the valve cover to atmosphere again?
Thanks!!
