Hey guys,

Have a 1994 kzj78 and the windows worked up until I replaced the batteries a few months ago. I’ve read that newer Landcruisers and others cars in general can reset the windows by holding the individual buttons down but that didn’t work. I’m wondering if there’s another reset sequence for these older Cruisers. I have replaced all 4 of the bigger 32A fuses since the old ones were corroded, all other fuses are GTG.

The lock/unlock buttons work on the master switch in the driver door but none of the window buttons work throughout the truck. The button that disables all windows clicks up and down.. could maybe be stuck on the inside. I'll be taking it apart next day off to clean the contacts.

Thanks!

Hello,

Over the years, carbon builds up in the buttons' contacts. Eventually, the buildup interrupts electrical continuity and renders the button inoperable.

Repeated use of the Window Lock button has a similar effect.

It is possible that your master switch is playing tricks.

You can try cleaning the contacts. Sometimes it helps. If not, they need replacement. It is wise to start with the master switch. It may be possible that the other buttons are still good. If not, they need replacement as well.

You can take the chance to clean, inspect and lubricate the window motors.
