When you converted to manual hubs, did you replace the knuckle housing? If so, how did you figure out the shims, or did you reuse your shims?

No, I did not replace the knuckle housing. I have had them off previously to clean/paint and replace king pin bearings, but I just put the shims back as they were.

If you do need to replace shims, just follow the factory service manual instructions. There is an SST, but I believe that is discussed on these forums somewhere and someone describes a DIY setup.

Ive got new knuckle housings to put on without the hole for the e-hub wiring (I could have just used silicon but I figured if i could get the housings why not). I’ve talked to several people now with KZJ70s that don’t run any shims at all and haven’t had any issues with kingpin bearings or leaking axle seals, so I’m stressing it much less.
