Kustom koito LED headlight kit in a BJ74 (2 Viewers)

Anyone install this in their BJ74? Need some advice as I’m not that knowledgeable about electrical stuff and the instructions don’t take into account the two batteries. When installing do you attach the leads to get 24v from the batteries? The relays that come with the kit are 12v. Any help would be appreciated.

Why don't you just get something like this? And you will probably save alot of money. The 7" LED lights are all 12 or 24 volt from what I have seen. Quite a variety on Ebay... Same size Jeep, Defender, and Land Cruiser. DOT 7" Led Headlight Round DRL Halo Sealed Beam Headlamp For Land Rover Defender | eBay

The headlamps will not work on a 24V truck without doing the a combination of the following:

1. Not using the harness that came with the Toyota kit that you were sent. The kit part number is 81110-60P70. They are non-LED from Toyota and have 12V bulbs. These have LEDs so the voltage won't matter. Your high-beam indicator will cease to function with the LED bulbs though. You will need to put a resistor in-line with the headlamps.

2. Find 24v relays that fit into the holders of that Toyota wiring harness. That will be tough to do.

3. Put a 24v-12v step-down system in, use the OEM Toyota wiring harness and the headlamps included and wire the headlighting system as a 12V system.

#3 is the worst option.
#2 will be a more difficult option
#1 will be your easiest, most painless way.

I agree. They look ugly as hell but they will work fine with a 24v system.

It’s not the voltage that’s the problem. It’s the way the wiring of the system interacts with the bulbs. The low beams might work but the high beams will not.

I don't mean to hijack your thread @jetswim but I have to ask if you can just swap out the LED bulbs with 24V ones in this kit?

Like buying 81110-60P70 directly and swapping out the bulbs?

Can you explain more in detail what you did? You just used the kit you bought with the LED bulbs but without the harness?

Yes. The sealed beams have a device between the bulb and the male plug that connects to the harness. Just plug each one into its respective female O.G. harness plug and away you go. The high beam indicator doesn’t seem to show when the high beams are on but they definitely switch to high beams when activated. The provided harness is for a different 12v application I guess.

Yes. s***can the LEDs, add regular 24V bulbs, do not use the harness, and away you go.

I think I will have to agree with you here. I like LED for interior lighting but not necessarily for headlights. I still have the 81110-60P70 kit I got from you so this is good to know.

bench test for Diodes Alignment in Sync with the KOITO Glass Light House Lens Design Features .


This is the First case of this level of install confusion regarding a 24V Toyota vehicle application , My Bulbs are 100% Top Shelf

and NOT sold on ebay or super bright , i source them abroad and Spare NO expense when it comes to MY Kustom Engineered

end product quality ........PERIOD !


each LED Bulb i Install , has a Compact Heat Sync Resister , thus is CAN BUS capable , i dont have a answer on the high beam indicator ? ........YET but will


my first gut is IT now will require a 24v Blue Tome LED bulb as well ?

but i will Report back when i have concrete facts

but , need to confirm with My Clients exactly what is proper bulb type ?



My KUSTOM KIOTO KIT is Real , works on 24V Land Cruiser Electrical SYSTEM and changed from high to low beams and normal

function halogens of days gone by


a note worthy note: I chose Not to add the suggestion of Omitting The factory Toyota Supplied sub harness relays from the onset

for Liability Reasons , and if some PO or New owner some how found them selves installing LOW TECH pep boyz halogens back in well

i think the rest is self explanatory ........
