The Kumno Road Venture MT 834 looks like an inexpensive alternative to the Good Year MT/R at about 2/3 the price. I am thinking about mounting them on my second set of wheels, used only for offroad occations. The MT only comes in 265/75-16 size, which is 31". Since it is the same diameter my 31" Michelin LTX, I wouldn't have to worry about speedo recalibration and re-gearing when swapping between the two set of wheels and tires.

Another option would be to sell my second set of OEM wheels and used the proceeds to fund a set of Tundra steel wheels and the cost difference between the Kumho and the GY MT/R's.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated :)

they come in 33's per theor web site. I looked at these early on but couldn't find any info so I went with the BFG a/t. I don't recall if they were available in an 8ply that might have been another issue.

265/75/16 is 32" i believe...so it's a little bigger than your stock tires.

Another MT tire to consider is: Toyo MT. They may be cheaper than MT/R while still having 3-ply sidewall.

This may not help you out, but I used to run Kuhmo PowerGuard MT on my little truck. I loved them. They were noisy (that's why they changed them to the Venture), they wore well on the pavement. But that was on the 3500 lb mini. A heavy LC will wear faster I suppose.

They were tough too. I hope this helped a little. The Toyo tires are of the highest quality too though.

There are some reviews at TireRack.com:

:)

Hi Corb, I've already read all the reviews on Tirerack. I was hoping for some first hand experience on this tire from here.

Txkndu, the steel Tundra wheels should fit. I've tried them on and it clears the brake caliper just fine. I didn't try getting the axles on full articulation to test for fit and rub. I have two sets of OEM wheels, one set currently with the Michelin LTX street tires and I was looking for a offroad tires for the other set. If I decide to sell the second set of wheels, I'll let you know.
