Was installing the headlights this morning when I noticed the female connector end coming from the original headlight harness is completely different than the male connector from the new Koito headlights.

Is the fix as easy as cutting off the old female connector and replacing it with a compatible headlight connector like the below?

Always a good plan to fix stuff correctly when you can - different story for field expedient repair when people are shooting at you.

I thought @MOTOV8R 's comment made sense in the other thread, there's really no need for the plug, just butt connect the wires. The plug is there for the ease of adapting the kit. I think Coolerman sells the proper plug and terminals. Parts stores sells headlight plugs too. They're not special.

I have a 71 with the closed headlight buckets - the connector is outside the headlight bucket with the connector to the headlight being the normal female 3 prong connector.

If I don’t connect into the original harness, im not sure the current light switch would work as nothing is connecting the new harness with the old
