Ok half way done my knuckle rebuild, ready to do the re-assembly. I have done this job twice before and never ran into this problem. I replaced the shims that were on the knuckle before with the matching new ones, however, once I tighten down the four bolts top and bottom, which I am doing evenly, the knuckle won't pivot back and forth anymore. Someone told me that if I add more shims it will lighten the load on the bearing thus it should be able to pivot. So I am just not sure how much to add and if it should be on the top, bottom or both? What will this effect once done? Or is there some other way to fix this problem?
