The front axle on my 62 is leaking, not that bad though, but i would prefer to fix it before it gets really bad. So for right now, i'm just getting quotes to build into the fiscal budget for '10 (depending on final approval from the cfo). Would this kit be all that i need?

Would i need to replace the wheel bearings as well?

Depends on how many miles are on them. I would if I already had all that apart. It's not that much more work to replace them and you can be done with them for a long while. If your buying from Marlin. Order his HD inner axle seals also. They are just a much better product.

Around 154k on my 62. The kit includes the inner axle seals as well.

I am doing my knuckles on saturday and LexTech did not tell me, "You idiot, why didnt you by wheel bearings too?" So I am guessing the knuckle bearings will suffice...LOL That being said if you got the money and it is not too late as in...got help on Saturday and they wont be here in time...then why not?

That kit has quite a few fans....I actually went with one from CCOT but they look to be basically the same kit except the Marlin uses NSK knuckle bearings and the CCOT uses Koyo knuckle bearings and a different designed inner seal that is popular with Aussies apparently as it is a bit more heavy duty and keeps sand and such out better or so is the claim.

Juice - sounds good. Just let me know a time frame. I believe the :princess: have planned something from brunch/lunch on sunday. Is the pig up and running?

Pig is running. I really need to finish the exhaust, get my manifold spot faced, and fix my high idle issue - BUT - its running.

I don't think the :princess: will let me take it to brunch though.

Maybe you and I can work on an axle rebuild and the :princess:s can do something girly one Sunday...

I have the Marlin kit and inner seals for a 62

Bought the Marlin kit last year, bearings, inner seals, etc., for the Axle Rebuild Hamom, but was unable to attend. Sold the 62 earlier this year, so I have the kit sitting in the box. Can't remember what I paid, but I will discount it to clear it out of my parts box . . .:grinpimp:

I'll go home tonight and check out all the parts and PM you with a price.

How hard was this? I've got the marlin kit with wheel bearings sitting in my shop. I don't know if its ever been changed so i bought everything but the grease/gear oil.

Plan on taking a day off of work, just need to see if the shop next to mine has a 52 mm nut for the hubs (correct me if i'm wrong on the size)

I also read something about a brass hammer and a long driver to pull out the inner bearing races. I have yet to see a pic of just what i'm getting myself into.

sorry to thread jack but if someone should be able to give me a list of what to expect/need to have on hand i would be grateful

I plan on doing it here at my shop where i pretty much have everything on hand. I don't have a brass mallet but i do have a BFH.
