We were talking about leaving New Orleans around 12 noon. We could meet up in BR about 1 somplace along the way. I would love a convoy.

Let me know what ya'll think.

I'm thinking of going up the 190 route over to 49 instead of I-10. We could meet up at Cash's right there at I-10 and 415. What do you think?

I can't envision exactly which truckstop that one is at that exit, but I know where you're talking about. That would be fine with me, meet you there around 1pm then.

Cash's is on the left past Popeye's if you are heading North. It should be a big truck stop. I will be wanting to Top off before heading out so we can make it up without having to refuel on the way.

Got it now
Sounds like a plan!

Where are you coming from?

with a 2.5 hour drive, I'd say we could meet up at the entrence to the park. You can call me with your status. My number is 504.416.6652.

Ok, Called the ranger Disctrict today and got some info. Seems like for the best experience, we should hit the Calcasieu District around Kincaid Lake. This is a nice lake that we can camp at off the beaten path.

Looks like we are going to enter the district at Robinson Bridge Rd. (LA-3265). This road crosses I-49 right below Alexandria. From there we will need to ride into the district heading north about 45 minutes or so to the lake. I would venture to say We would head to the lake and set up a camp then go tooling around.

Here is a link to the path from New Orleans.

4200 Stockton St, Metairie, LA 70001 to Forest Route 279/Valentine Lake Rd - Google Maps

How does that work for everyone? Bowen, think you can find your way to around there?

Now i know there isnt much wheeling per say but what are the shape of the trails a roads

the weather has been nice thru the last week or so. I would say the trails/roads are all in good shape. But I'm sure we can find something muddy for you to get stuck in if you like. :)

Here is the weather report from Wunderground:

Weather Forecast Alexandria, LA | Alexandria Weather | Wunderground

the rangers told me there is a burn ban in effect in the park so we'll not be able to have an open campfire. I'm going to bring my camp stove, a pot and two skillets.

I guess at some point we should try to get a head count on who is coming:

Noah and I were looking forward to this one but we have a conflict in which I am one of the adults "yea I know scary thought huh" that is bringing a boat and extra Lifejackets and fishing gear to the Point. I hope it is fun and youall can put together a map of the route for the next excursion!

Sorry to hear you won't make it Bim. I'm hoping that this turns into a regular thing so we'll see you on the next one. Have fun on the boat!
