I got the wheel seals replaced and one brake rebuilt last night. Waiting on parts to get back from ATV shop to re assemble the motor and test run it.

Got the Rancher 350 motor back together this weekend. Had to bore it out with new piston, rings, valve guides and valves. I got it all set up on the work bench to run tonight and make sure its all good. Also started on the rear axle upper link mounts. Got it all cut and should finish fitting and welding tonight.

Got the upper link towers built and welded onto the front and rear axles and removed factory leaf spring perches. Got the caliper out and figured out how to build the driveshaft adapter to get from the Honda rancher transmission to the samurai transfer case. Some used differing sizes of DOM but I have a co-worker with a lathe that should make quick work of this.

This weekend with the help of a co-worker we were able to build the adapter to get from the ATV drive shaft to the samurai drive shaft. Using an 80+ year old lathe and 5 hours we ended with the final product.

Unboxed the body and brought it home. Have it set up on a body stand doesn’t weigh but 60-80 lbs.

Been super busy with work but I was able to buy some steel a few weeks back and have started on the frame. I bought 2x3x3/16 rectangular tubing for the frame. Probably a bit more heavy duty than needed, but hopefully the heavy frame will help lower the center of gravity a bit.

With the help of CAD (cardboard aided design) I got an idea of dimensions and drop for the transfer case cradle in the middle. I built a frame jig out of a piece of old plywood and 2x4 blocks to keep the frame halves in place and exactly the same angles as they are welded.

I was able to tack weld the frame together and get it on a stand with the body. I’ll try to get body mounts built this week then I can start on the motor mounts and transfer case mount.
I wish I was small enough to fit in that bad boy. howd the finger heal up?

Atrocious Driving
Literally putting the cart before the buggy with this idea but I can’t resist- how about a trailer? We had a Jeep Hurricane electric toy car and fab’d up a trailer. Kids loved hauling stuff around. Switched lights were a big hit as well. Awesome work!

Had some time this evening to get the front body mounts made and tacked to the frame. The body did not have any type of mounts except in the rear. I drilled the front floor board and will use some thick 2” fender washers to help spread out the load on the top side.

I was able to get the frame fully welded up, the front body mounts, and the grille mounts fabricated and welded in. I put the body back on and checked clearances with it on the garage floor. Decided to get the motor and transfer case a quick look to see how things might lay out.
