I started building on the exo-cage for the little buggy for my son. 1-3/4" .120 wall tubing for the majority of it. Trying to get 2-3 tubes per week done so I can make slow but steady progress.

started on the bracket to mount the electric power steering pump. Original plan was to go under the hood somewhere, but I'm having trouble getting it all to fit. May end up having to mount it under the rear frame and have the fill spout come through the flow behind the seat.

That’s a really cool project!

My coworker has been into rock bouncing and after his second crazy buggy build (made it up back door at KOH and nearly made top 10) and has since built his kids a mini truck axled, yota 4-banger buggy with 38.5” SXs. The kids flog that thing, roll it like their dad rolls his rig.

Look up Mike Raczynski-Appetite for Destruction (buggy #1) and Fat and Sassy (Current buggy)

There don’t seem to be any videos posted of the kids rig.

Been a while since the last update - only a few years.... Progress has been made, but slow. Cage is complete. Suspension parts were cut out and the 4 link rear and 3 link front is complete. Working on exhaust.

I assumed this thing submarined. Keep it going

Updates:
Steering - Used a boat hydraulic steering help (1.7 cu-in/rev) and a 1" x 6" hydraulic ram for steering - works well
Tires/Wheels - 28x10x15 Moto tires from a mule on 15" x 7.5" wheels.
All suspension brackets and links welded up.
Brake lines made and will install this week.

I was down in St George a month or two ago. Thought about this build. There was a family out rock crawling. Youngest two had a buggy sized for them. Super capable, I wanted to give it a try…

There have been several kids buggy builds that are pretty sweet. The body on this just wasn't conducive to make it a 2 seater. If I had to re do this I probably would have stretched the body and made it a 2 seater fighter jet style.

had to remake the drive shaft between the engine and transfer case. I used a front axle from a polaris rzr and had to make custom ends for it.

Hi. Both my sons are in Aggieland studying MechE. Nice to see this! My younger son @Cowboy45 is working on a SAE Baja truck at CSTAT. My older son @SipLife who graduates in May this year is in Formula. Both DD cruisers. How old is your son? Hope he got to be part of the build. Its was a great resume booster for my boys when it came time to get into A&M. They compiled all they did growing up.

The oldest is 7 and middle is 6, they did help with parts of it, but I started it when the oldest was 2. As they get older, I fully intend to get them in on the welding and machining. They are still young, but the earlier they can learn an actual skill rather than video games is a win in my book. Thanks ad Gig' Em!
