Keyless sound or chirp

It's a stealth chirp.

Takes a while to get used too. You learn to look back at the tail lights when locking you're door. It gives you one more chance to decide if you've parked too close to the guy next to you.

Funny... that is how I accidentally found out that my '00 had remote start :) I kept hitting lock to see if it would chirp back and "ta-da".... it started. Pleasantly surprised as you can imagine.

Just listen for the clunk of the 5 door lock actuators in unison. I'm a no chirp guy myself, I always disable the chirp when possible.

Yup, this is what I listen for as I walk away from my LC.

However with that said I would much prefer the small chirp that the Lexus system produces on lock/unlock. My mom's 2004 GX470 makes this sound and why they didn't include it on my 2004 Land Cruiser is beyond me. Hell my LC sold for more than her GX.

My understanding is the physical speaker to make the chirp doesn't exist in the Land Cruiser. Hence why it simply can't be programmed to do so. However my curiosity was if we could add the speaker to the LC factory alarm...

One of the many ways (no seat memory, crappy stereo, no chirp, etc.) that they used to differentiate the LX 470 and justify a higher price...

This thread reminds me I need to put a switch on my chirp, I dont always want it. Thankfully the LS has a volume dial for it and I can dial it to off when needed.

I wish mine had the chirp. If you are ever leaving a parking lot and don't have line of sight, or sunlight makes it difficult to see the tail lights, you could tell if it was locked from the chirp.

Quite annoying.

I'd rather have a chirp also. Since the system sends a signal to the lights, couldn't a chirper be added to receive the signal as well?

99% of the time I prefer not having the chirp (rental cars always seem to have it and I find it absolutely obnoxious). But it would be nice to add it with an on/off switch when I'm in a noisy environment.

I was building my harness to relocate my antenna and noticed a small horn in the passenger fender. I assumed it was for the audible signal for the remote. Now I have read its not, ok. But what is its purpose?

Thanks.

Shane.
