Finally got my 05' transponder chip programmed. The info above apparently only applies to 03-04'. The 05' is a "D" chip. Here are the simple steps.
1. all doors closed
2. master key in and out of ignition 5 times, leave in on 5th time, no turning ever
3. open and close driver door 6 times, leave closed on 6th time
4. pull master key, get solid security light
5. insert new key, blinks for 60 seconds then goes out
6. pull key and open door to cancel mode
7. test new key
You are da man!! I tried multiple other sequences for at least an hour the other day in my 05 to no avail. I just did tried that sequence and it worked as well. Thanks much!
Where are you all getting your new keys cut? I want to get a key with a built in remote, but I'm guessing home depot won't cut it for me. I don't want to pay a locksmith $100 to do it; at that point I could just pay the dealer and receive the key already cut.
That's the company I just ordered my 2 new LC keys from, except mine had remotes in them too. USPS lost the first package they sent me, so they sent a no cost replacement order. They're an A+ seller in my book. The housings and remotes I received look beautiful to boot. They seem high quality and just like OEM.Recently I was looking at going this route for key/cut replacement - any experience?
2007 LX470 replacement cut key
The last time I had a key cut it was $115, but the guy came to me and it was a laser cut key. I will make some calls, though. Hopefully I can find a happy medium.I've tried all the big box stores and nobody would cut them for me. I went to a local locksmith and 10 minutes and $10 later I had my key cut. It's been working flawlessly although he wasn't sure it would. I'm going back to him for these two new ones now. The one he cut for me the first time was an ebay flip key. I think before I get these new ones cut I'll order 1 or 2 more of those and get them cut at the same time. YMMV, but definitely make some calls as I think $100 sounds outrageous....

Do you have a LX? That may explain the difference in price were talking about. My Toyota key is NOT laser cut, just a regular key.The last time I had a key cut it was $115, but the guy came to me and it was a laser cut key. I will make some calls, though. Hopefully I can find a happy medium.
It probably cost me that much because it was for an Infiniti; it just happened to be the last time I got a key cut.Do you have a LX? That may explain the difference in price were talking about. My Toyota key is NOT laser cut, just a regular key.
And @Phil, I'm really glad I clicked the link and of all eBay sellers I just happen to have worked with them lol!
