One feature I have used on other vehicles is a key pad entry to lock keys in car while hiking. Has anyone found and installed a satisfactory after market key pad or number pad for keyless entry?

You could take just the key off your keyring and loop it to your belt loop. That way you have your key without carrying a bunch of junk around.

I have used those in the past, but doubt that it is large enough for the key fob.

Hiding the fob would be pointless anyway as the truck would think you were next to it and unlock the doors for anyone.

But that brings up a good point: on the 200 is the chip in the fob or in the key? Can you have a spare cut that will allow the vehicle to start without the fob electronic bits? A cut key will open the doors and get you going as long as the immobilizer will recognize it.

Good point. You could even store a spare fob batt in the cabin. Just seal up the unit in a couple of layers of vacuum seal bags to protect it from the elements. Might even want to throw a small silica desiccant in there with it to prevent any moisture from condensing in the winter.

Sounds like he's going to have to buy a Ford. ;)
