Anyone know of filling stations that still have Kerosene at the pump?

Airports have Jet A Fuel and depending on the refinery is also marked K1...a few additive enhancements to improve efficiency and kill off naturally occurring bacteria. K1 lacks some of the lubricating principals (paraffin) and slightly lower BTU of #2 Diesel but still acceptable for diesel engines and used by many as heating oil. Jet A/K1 have had almost all of their sulfur refined out as well raising the freeze point allowing aircraft to not worry about gel issues at typical Flight Levels. The modern Diesel Fuels are now moving/moved to low sulfur as well so the diff between Jet A/K1 and Diesel are diminishing.

I have always used kerosene in my blast furnace. It says I can use diesel or kerosene.

I have seen other that used diesel have issues, so I always used kerosene. Is that a thing of the past, with the new standards for diesel?

Diesel is $1.75 a gallon, Kerosene is about $6 a gallon. I burn through about 10 gallons annually.

I think I just saw 5gal jugs of Kerosene at Strasser last week. Jet A here at OJC is $5.25/gal / no highway tax built in. No personal experience here but the guys that buy the Jet A for heating do so to reduce combustion odors according to my line guys.

Wornall automotive used to 816 523 2434, per their web site they still do

I just texted Thomas to see what their price per gallon is (he's a mechanic there).

Whats a blast furnace ? Similar to a Salamander or a Dyna Glo ? You may do some research for your local, but generally this time of year whatever is coming out of the diesel pump at your local station will be more Kerosene like. They will either have additives or they will cut it to where its somewhere between a #1 and #2. I run regular #2 diesel in my Dyna Glo, there is definitely more of a smell to it but its really cheap to fill up.

Yes, Wornall Automotive still fills kerosene, $4.85 / gallon right now.

Sweet. Thanks. I will head there this afternoon!
