Not a really big thing but I keep losing the cap on the 3' tuneable Firestik antenna when we have been offroading the last 3 times. I have it mounted on the Bandi mount and I am assuming that it snags on a tree branch and falls of. Should I crazy glue it & maybe cut off cap if I need to re-tune the antenna? Or should I not worry (corrosion, etc.) about not running cap on it? I know I could just remove it before wheeling but I am a forgetful person.

I've never lost an antenna cap and we wheel through stuff you'd expect to pull caps off. Is your antenna hard-mounted, without a spring? I think a spring would probably help.

I does have a spring. I believe the problem is that when I tuned the antenna to the cb I have, the screw is turned up quite a ways vs being screwed in. This is not allowing the cap to slip further down into the antenna (hope this makes sense)...

Put a couple wraps of black vinyl tape around the bottom, down onto the antenna sheath, and it'll probably stay on there.

I wrapped mine in electrical tape a few years ago and it's held up well. It gets beat up every time we go on a run and haven't lost a tip yet.

wow i can never get mine off without a ton of force when I need to adjust the SRW for a new CB. together we could have the perfect cap
