Just where is the speed sensor on early 3fe?

Is it on the output on the tranny or is it somewhere else like the around the instrument cluster? I know on early 80 its at the output. Hell later models have 2


Is this thing really needed? I sold my oem manual and my cheap book is not helping me as fas as the motor side.

What JUST does thing thing really control?
