hi, i just had my driver's side exhaust manifold replaced due to a crack. now, after driving it a little (about 20 or so miles), the check engine light is on.

what are the chances the two are related?

Very likely related. Who did the work? Did the O2 sensor get plugged back in?

local mechanic who works on my other vehicles did the work. japanese import specialist, but not LC/LX470 specialist. not sure about O2 sensor. will check with him. is that typically the cause of the check engine light in this case?

Could be lots of things. You can get the codes pulled for free at most auto parts stores.

I think the O2 sensor is the most likely cause of the problem. Could be as simple as a loose connector. Your mechanic will probably be able to figure out what is going on pretty quickly.

Pull the code and you'll know what is going on.

It's time to add year, model, mileage and mods to your sigline.

good point. sorry about that.

haven't figured out how to do that yet. can't find the "signature" section to update. haven't figured how to put the pic of my 100 on the left (like you guys all have), either. figured out how to post a pic in the msg itself, but not on the ID part on the left.

User CP>Edit Signature> Save Signature> wala!

(look on the left hand side column "Settings and Options)

I'm going to say O2 Sensor. That is the only thing that can throw a code on the exhaust system. Since you just had exhaust work, they probably dropped the sensor or damaged it.

If you do replace it. I have the Bosch and it works great, half the cost of the Denso, but the Denso is "OEM" stuff. Most here would put Denso in but Bosch works fine for me.

ah, "User CP" was the key. i kept looking under the info provided when i click my sign on at "Welcome" on the right. thank you.

i'll get the user codes checked today. and thanks for the heads up on the Bosch sensor!

Just replaced driver side, bank 1, sensor 1 with a Bosch. Mine seem to go when the weather changes.

In my experience----Honda also calls for Denso sensors. I had a Bosch unit installed when it crapped out a few months later. Same with a replacement. Read about similar experiences with other Honda owners. Got a Denso unit and no problems in 2 years. Should've just gone with Denso/OEM in the first place.

not to go off topic but i ccant get my sig to pop up...?

edit: got it! sry

just had the diagnostics run. came out to sensor 2. it was connected. so we disconnected, then reconnected. will check over the next couple days to see if it persists. hope that's it.

thanks for all your help!

if it turns out bad and you have the OEM manifolds, it's a pretty easy replacement. Jack it up, remove the wheel, removed the finder liner, 22MM open wrench. If it was just removed it should be easy to get out.

I had to disconnect the battery after I replaced my sensor to get the CEL off.
