A few things. Scored one on ebay 10/14/21 via Bell Lexus. I read on Club Lexus they are becoming hard to find.
The threads on the frame were very rusty. I just took my time and held the bolt straight and wiggled them in and made sure they were operational before I got started. PB blaster and anti-seize helped once they got started and I used power tools on the bolts to ream the threads out. I read you can use a tap but I wasn't comfortable with that and did not have them on hand. The youtube stuff helped and I used a jack in the center and jack stands on the sides solo. Sprayed the exhaust hanger with fluid film and channel lock/ pry bar to remove, it went back on by hand. Use your knee against the end of the exhaust pipe when tightening the bolts in that area. I didn't need any universal socket bits and finally got some use out of my Pittsburg torque wrench. The last M8x 25mm bolt would not gain purchase on the threads for some reason so I got a M8x 35mm bolt from Napa and all was well. Took me a few hours in spite of what the youtubers are saying.

Sliders are up next. Victory or RSG but victory does have a nice military discount.

Harbor Freight taps can handle a little bit of abuse, and aren't exactly sharp enough to entirely make new threads. I keep a kit of those around to use as thread chasers, they work great for that.

Using a tap on a pre-threaded hole is a perfect way to practice. One day down the line you're going to need all of the amassed experience when the time comes to actually cut new threads.

I’d be interested. I’m in GA. What is cost to ship here?
A metric ass-ton? 😂 They are heavy, and come in a large box. That's all I got. I know Bell Lexus ships them for $35, but I doubt retail could come anywhere close to that.

Just curious, why the choice to go OEM vs aftermarket (with a brand like Curt)? Simply for the 6500 vs 5000 lb rating?
The OEM hitch bolts farther forward on the frame with more fasteners.

I had a Curt hitch on my 470 and did not like it. It hung down pretty low, was ugly, and all of the powder coating was flaking off. It only attached to the frame at the edges and didn't attach in the middle. It was also really close to the exhaust and would not allow for a tip to be installed.

For my 470 I installed an OEM Toyota hitch for an '07 4Runner. It looks much better, sits higher, attaches to the frame in the middle, and has a higher tow rating. My new 4Runner hitch cost $230 from the local Toyota dealer, and was $100 cheaper than the same hitch from a Lexus dealer. I'll probably never tow more than 5K lb with my GX, but I'd rather have an over-built hitch than an under-built one.

For 460 folks looking for a better hitch, it may be worthwhile to see if a 5th gen T4R hitch will fit a GX460. With how much of the 150 platform is the same between various models, it could potentially fit.

FWIW, the hitch I picked up from Bell Lexus came in a box with a gigantic "Toyota" logo on it.

It would be interesting to compare it to a 5th Gen T4R hitch.....at this point it's seeming like they are the same.

PT228-60140 does not cross reference in the Toyota Parts catalog. It appears to be a Lexus dealership only part unless this is masquerading with a different Toyota specific part number.

Do you still have this hitch? That is a steal for someone here in local area.

I'll post on GXOR-PNW if you still have it.

I was wondering why I was having issues finding a PN for 5th gen 4R receiver but then saw some stating stock was welded receiver to the frame. That would explain difficulty finding a PN.

Appears previous gens were bolt on receivers like the 460.
