I just bought 4 BF Goodrich All-Terrain 33x10.5R15 tires from tirecrawler.com. Took one week from checkout click to my door. Tires were made 2211, 22nd week of 2011, so that's 5 months ago. No dusty old closeout stock here. Mounting and balance will be around $90. About $800 total. Local tire places wanted $950-1000+ so this is worth the extra effort for my dollar.

You did well . Here its 800. plus and America is owned by Discount I believe. Mike

600?!!? Wow. The America's tire in Portland wants $822 total. Sears wanted $850. $600 installed is a steal.

I've been wanting to get new tires for a couple years. Just sold another car, have some cash, and ski season is fast approaching, so it was time to get some new rubber.

If only I knew someone local who'd mount these up for some homebrew...

post up the reciept and other discount/americas tire places will match it.

Also, the cost varries if you get the roadhazard or not..

I too would like to see the ticket, to see if the store here will match the price. Thanks, MIke

I find paying a little more with my local family owned tire shop is a better way to go. You get a ton more service and flexibility.. they were able to warranty a tire with a broken belt (questionable as there was a rock gouge in the area) for 100% replacement, free.

They are also willing to go the extra mile in mounting and balancing. Quarter turns on the rim to try and get balance perfect without a lot of weight. Choice of stems, free lug nuts, stuff like that. It has paid dividends over the 10 or so sets of tires (from 31s to 37s AT, MT, MTR Kevlars, etc) I have bought from them, and I now know them as a family and not a business.

I think the last couple sets I paid $220/tire mount/balance for 35x12.5x15 MT/R Kevlars, and around $200/tire for 33x10.5 AT/KOs, price out the door mounted and balanced.

You guys might be worried about a few bucks, here in Europe most types & sizes one would want for the J6 are simply not available. And if they are, you better save up first. Just to give you an idea how tuff life is here :crybaby::

Almost anything from 33" up in 15 or 16 is only available from 11,5 up. So no tall skinnies.
Cooper Discoverer S/T or SST, 255/85r16: not available
BFG AT, not available in 33" or more (15 or 16, doesn't matter), only option is 285/75r16.
BFG MT 255/85r16: around EUR 250,- a piece (USD 340,-) (yes that excludes shipping :o)

Which airline would accept four tires as hand luggage?

Cheers.

I certainly do not disagree with you on the mom and pop shop aspect but around here. Those shops are primarily Llanterias and the service is not so great.

Discount/Americas tire has always treated me with respect and gone the extra mile for me. I have never been disappointed with the service and support they have give me.

I went with Discount Tire. Ordered through discounttiredirect.com and got them shipped to my local shop. Brought in my wheels, and they mounted and balanced them. Of course I forgot the price. I'll look that up.

I had one valve stem fail one me, they replaced all five, and then re-balanced the tires. All for free. This was a couple years after the original mounting too.

Really satisfied with their service here in Houston and in Temple.

Damn that's good. Just under a grand for a set of five if I order them through AAFES. Not taxed, but that's also without mounting/balancing (which I do myself). Looks like I gotta keep shopping around.

Sent from my Motorola DynaTAC 8000x

Take a price quote from a "normal" shop to AAFES. They tend to price match...

RE TIRES

The tires I got were installed on another customers ride and driven only a few hundred miles and returned because they were too big. So technically they were used. I checked them out and talked the guy down to 600 they looked as good as new so I grabbed them. This was minutes after i finished the OME lift so it seems it was a right place right time deal
