I’ve been a mud member for 11 years now and have owned several cruisers, and now I’m posting on the 200 forum because we just picked up a 2016 for our family hauler.

Now we are an all cruiser family again, as I daily drive a LX450 and have a ‘74 Fj40 as well.

The First impressions when we test drove it were:

-very well engineered and built, to be expected with a land cruiser, and the overall ride and quality blew our Tahoe out of the water (even though I liked the vortec)

Anyhow, here she is, and my wife loves it. Gonna last us many years to come, and it came with a lifetime power train warranty, not too shabby!

Cheers, and happy New Years mud!

Definitely a happy new year for the Tennessee80 family. Now you'll have to change your forum name to Tennessee4080200.:bounce:

Congrats! I stopped by my Toyota guy today ...and while I was waiting, hopped in a brand new LC on the showroom floor. Must admit that your 2016-2018 interior really is nice...and its "new car smell" was intoxicating. :)

Was your same gorgeous white, too.

May you have many more New Years in your sweet new Cruiser!

Nice!

Congrats, I love 2016+ white/black LCs. My favorite of all combinations currently.

Congratulations! Like @restless said, the 2016 white/black are awesome! ;)

Congrats! Love the blizzard pearl with black interior.

Thanks everybody,

Yeah, I have to admit the white is a great color, and the black the perfect match, and won't show as much weathering as a lighter interior. We got a good deal on it since it has 29,000 miles (still very young!), so was able to avoid the brand new sticker shock. I have built up my 80 for expedition style trips, but now am already pipe dreaming about getting a 2008 for my rig and equipping it for the bush (but that's just today, I was doing the same dreaming about 60s in the past few months)...

Anyway, it will be great to read up and learn about these rigs, as I am not very familiar with the 4wd system the 200 has. In low range (snow or tow) does it have various settings? I would imagine my wife wouldn't really need low in TN winter snows, but if she did, is there a "Plain" low range, not crawl mode?

cheers,

Joel

Low range enables a handful of “multi-terrain” modes separate from Crawl. Though it is very unlikely she will need them for snow aside from possibly using 4L in S1 or 2 to have 4W engine braking on steep downhills. There is decent traction control without going into 4L. But you still neeed to change your driving style for snow. (I’ve known people who thought that with 4WD they could use the same driving technique in snow that they do on dry pavement!) She may sometimes want to use the ECT 2nd or whatever it is called when starting out on a slick surface. That button prevents the transmission from using first gear. (That’s not the same as simply shifting to S2 in S-Mode which limits the transmission to using 1sr and 2nd gear. ECT 2nd OTOH prevents a downshift to first.)

Anyway, that’s a bit off topic for this thread and I know there are threads on the use of 4L, etc.

Congratulations! FYI The 2016 LC Blizzard Pearl looks great with the black TRD Pro wheels. You know in case you’re worried about your wife’s safety and wanted to get a separate set of wheels/tires for winter. That’s the excuse i used to buy ours.

Congrats! Nice buy

Good news also, the rig fits in our garage, 1968 home, which was built for old school station wagons, lol

Mama is happy!
