what hinge are you using? i want to add a tire carrier to mine just cant find a a good hinge.
Looks great. I like the side protection a lot, that'll come in handy for sure. Sooo happy now that I have moved my spare - now how to use the space ?

mega spindle from a to z fabrication. they say it is rated for up to 39" tires. $60 you get spindle, bearing housing, and bearings. comes with a zerk fitting installed. they make the spindle themselves from cold rolled steel. alot of the other setups are $10 1k trailer spindles made in china from weaker hot rolled steel, then repackage it with some bearings and a housing and resell for around $45.

a little more progress
put in 1/2 drop pin to ensure it stays closed. and did some reinforcement to the reciever maybe a little more than i needed to. gonna gusset in the frame brackets and build the side protector frame brackets and devise a way to control the opening of the swing arm next.

materials
2x4 3/16 wall for the main beam. .120 wall 2x6 for side protectors .120 wall 2x2 and 2x3 for the swing arm 1/4" gussets and tire mount flange. 2" dom reciever stock. 1" thick shackle mounts. 2k de sta co compression latch from grainger. and a to z fab mega duty hinge. all welded up with my beloved miller 211. think that was about it. bought my steel at california metals in el cajon, they got some good prices and they will cut it for free. gonna build side protector supports out of 2" .120 tube. 1/4" gussets and landind plates to frame.

I just installed that same bearing on the rear bumper i'm building for my dad's jeep, and there's no zerk fitting on it....

that is true they dont put a zerk on thier hub. that is kind of cheesy of them considering the amount they charge for thier setup. but jeep tubes has one in theirs, comp 4x4 puts 2 in thiers, and rock stomper even puts one in theirs. you can drill and tap a hole in it though, and get the zerk at most auto parts stores. i got a pack of a few of them for around 5 bucks.

made a stop for the swing arm, and drop pin sleeves to hold the swingarm closed and open. got this zinc plated 1/2" pin at a trailer supply for $4. i already had a spot to keep it closed on the backside of the bumper but i kind of liked the idea of having them next to each other....???
Sean - It's looking really nice! I've got to figure a way to get my LC down there for a day so you could do sliders for me.

almost finally done.....
test fit, looks good. i made supports coming off the side protectors 1 3/4 sch 40 with 1/4 plate gussets that bolt onto landing plates that weld to the frame. the back frame brackets bolt onto the frame in five spots each. came out very solid holds a 35 bfg really tight. now i am gonna take it off and finish up a few welds.
