So I went down to Rusty_TLC's house to help diagnose a noise/vibe on his '98 100-Series. First time driving it and I couldn't believe how far back the driver's seat will go. In fact it went so far back it was too far to reach the skinny pedal and I had to move it forward.

Mine OTOH, being a '99 FWTW, can't quite get back as far as I'd like.

We measured and measured and compared and compared but other than the 1.25" farther rearward adjustment with his '98 there were zero other clues where the measurement difference/additional rearward adjustability is coming from.

His is one of the very rare OEM cloth interiors. But other than that the seats, mounting brackets, position of the mounting brackets, etc. look the same.

I might have to swap seats out in the middle of the night after I get him good and liquored/rummed ;) up on our next off-road foray :D

I noticed the same thing with a friend's cloth interiored 80 series vs. my leather 80. I wonder if they just go further back on the tracks. I'd be interested to see pics of a cloth int. 100, never seen one. I'm like you, I could use an extra inch. (that's what she said).

From the front of the seat to the lower portion of the skinny pedal (measuring 90 degrees back from the acc pedal): 22" on mine. 23-1/4" on Rusty_TLC's!

We looked and looked and searched and searched for any apparent position differences and found them identical. It would seem reasonable to expect, given the substantial difference in seat to pedal dimensions, the seat moves farther back on its track. Its a complete mystery to both of us where the 1-1/4" difference lies!

And we hadn't even had cocktails yet! :D

I'm 5'10" with an actual inseam of 34" and I had to move his seat up a little to get the proper reach to the pedals. Whereas, again, I have my seat located all the way as far as it will go and it would be great to have another 1/2" or so...and even more with my big hunting boots on ;)

It was kind of wierd, when I jumped in Spresso's truck it was like getting in mine after:princess: had been driving.

@trunkmonkey, not only is the interior cloth, the seats are heated and it has no sun roof. I really like the way the cloth grabs your butt off road.

Well... looking at the parts catalog, the cloth and leather seats use different seat and seat back pads. This could explain the difference.

We measured the distance on both truck's seats from the forward edge of the bottom cushion straight back to the seat back and they were the same.

None of it makes any sense with respect to determining where the difference lies. If the pedal is 1-1/4" farther forward that would explain the measurement distance except it doesn't explain the additional seat back to steering wheel distance.

Obviously there is an explanation...we just were not able to find it

But me want!

Curious, does the cloth seat power tilt and adjust in exactly the same manner as the leather ones? I'd imagine so.

I guess you'll need to swap seats and remeasure. Get to the bottom of this!

Oh hell! I couldn't stand it any longer especially after driving Rusty's '98 and feeling how nice the extended seat distance actually was.

A double espresso earlier this afternoon (:)), a little drilling and then a little fab and weld work and I'll be sitting back a little further tomorrow.

could the seat bottom be longer one one seat? For example if only the leather seats have lumbar support, it could prevent a person from sliding all the way back on the seat bottom. This might give a big perceived difference in seats but really it's just the difference between sitting deep in the seat and not sitting all the way in.

No per ^^^ #10 post

Mmmm, I sense another Spressofab product in the making . . . .

Its relatively easy if done as a mod on the front seat brackets. It wouldn't be too much of a PITA :D to fab new brackets, for resale, but I'm just sectioning/lengthening the OEM brackets.

Given how easy this job is I'm pissed I kept pushing it down on "the list"!
