I can't recall if it was the Jungle or Extreme trekker that was featured in the Auz 4wd mag this last year. It got great reviews all round. I have not found a source in North America, and am not sure they can be sold (DOT approval). I like what I have read, and I like the sizes they offer.

The Unimog I sold had German made Goodyears with a tread pattern very similar...

Have always liked that for some reason...

Would be neat to get a set in here somehow...

Far as I know they're not DOT legal, so off road use only. Contact RMP&O (Ian) I think he had someone you could try.

Simex tiers are popular in almost every country except for USA...

I cannot see a problem with DOT approval..

Unless it says so on the sidewall......they're not. It's up to Simex to get them approved.

Most cops can't read...

Kinda like beadlock ticketts..

Northern 4x4 suppliers in Alaska had a couple sets on their rigs a couple years ago. I think they said they could get them but they are $$$

Are they bias or radial? I was just thinking if they were available in NA and saw this thread.

Thanks for the site and info. Are there any BFG MT/AT's over there that are legal? Just wonder if there are b/c might be argument for getting the simex here.

bfg MT and AT are fully legal in australia.

check out australian Ebay, search for Simex in the tyre section, under cars, car parts and accessories, there was a set on there, 34 x 10.5 five of them with rims for 1000 aust. don't know if freight would kill you or not.

Found that article in Auz 4WD Monthly. Tire tested was the Extreme Trekker 2 The Centipede. Other tires tested through the same course and obstacles were the Radial MT/R, TSL Bogger, Swaper TSL, and the Mickey Thompson Claw. Nov 2004 for those who have it.

The basic lug pattern on those look like siped WWII military tires....

their awesome in mud, all things on a rig being equal, in mud, on an unlocked vehicle, they are about the equivelent of a locked vehicle on BFgoodrich muddies...

but some suzuki (sammi) owners in aust find that the sidewall is too stiff for their little buzz boxes, not sure if we'd have the same prob on a cruiser

I'm sure shipping would make it not worth it.
The tread looks like a good all around heavy duty tyre. Oh well I'll have to keep my ears open for a random sale.
