I’m iffy now. Tried to wire my license plate lights yesterday, and I now inexplicably have no headlights - and they won’t come back even if I unhook any of the wiring I just did.

Weirdly, I have high beams, just no low beams...

All fuses are intact, I’m getting voltage (at least at the license plate light). Side markers are all working. I’ve got 3 grounds at the rear harness and one off each turn signal up front, so I doubt it’s a ground issue. Still no power to the LED plate light no matter which “direction” I wire it.

I’ll need to start checking voltage at the headlights and working backward. I’ve got an IPF harness and H4 headlights through relays. Never had an issue before so I’m really at a loss...

Check the headlight bulb itself. Once I thought I lost something in the circuit as well because my low beams didn't work but everything else on the truck did, come for find out both low beam filaments had gone bad at the same time, crazy yes, but possible

I just checked the voltage to both headlights - I’m getting 12V and they’re switched appropriately (voltages switches between high and low beam side of the circuit) which seems to imply I’m getting everything I need through the relays. You might be right that I somehow blew both low beams at once.

That still doesn’t solve the mystery as to why the LED plate light won’t light, I may just jump it straight to the battery and see if I can get a sign if life.

Do you have a good working incandescent bulb with socket? If so see if it works at the plate wiring and pay attention to brightness, maybe it's not getting enough for the LED? But I have also had LED bulbs come out bad from a pack.

Fixed it. No idea how - just turned on the truck and everything came back online. All I can figure is wiring and testing with the truck off dropped the voltage enough to mess with the relays and LED’s. But I had plenty of juice to start the truck under it’s own power so :meh:...

I guess I’m in for next weekend assuming nothing else explodes!

I was thinking your buddy down the street with the 4Runner

I'm slow .... got it. Just sent him a text to confirm and will report back.

Every time I sign up for a wheeling trip I feel like Han Solo... “don’t worry, she’ll hold together (hear me baby, hold together...)”

You'll be fine, worse comes to worse I'm towing up, I can tow you home, but you've been fine!

I’m sure I’ll be alright - I tend to not give the 40 enough credit. It’s done everything I asked of it, even when I ask too much of it (fall crawl) and gets me home. If not - I’ll either hitch a ride on your trailer or cash in one of my 100mi tows oh my AAA card ;)

Where is the sense of adventure in that?

Rain makes it entertaining!

Spoken like someone whose truck has weather stripping...and air conditioning.

When it rains outside my truck, it rains inside my truck :hillbilly:

Just hoping to trailer up the mountain in the dry for my first time with the Tundra, but I guess I'll just drive right in!
Tounge weight. I had a isue with too little of it and would spin tires like a mofo.
