Hi All,
New to Socal TLCA but not new to offroading. I would like to join you guys on part of this trip. Looking forward to hiking and some fishing. Unfortunately I will not be able to head out until Friday night so will try to meet up Saturday morning at the latest.

My rig is a 2015 LC with an upgraded suspension, bumpers and tires. I have a winch but no lockers.

I also have two very well-behaved dogs, so hope that is ok.

Since I am a newbie and this my first outing with you folks, feel free to offer any advice or guidance.

I called and check conditions with High Sierra Ranger District (559) 855-5355. A few housekeeping items:
  1. We will find and camp three nights at 37.09104, -119.16467 or a nearby location depending on availability.
  2. Camping is disperse, fire permit is required for propane stove with shutoff valve.
  3. No campfire.
  4. If you are fishing, be sure to check with local authority for fishing license requirement.
  5. All roads in the Bald Mountain area are open as of today.
  6. Roads to Dinkey TrailHead are open and hiking to Mystery Lake is allowed for day use, permit required to stay inside wilderness area.
  7. Bring sunscreen, bug spray, assorted beverage, plenty of water, good food, and a positive attitude.
  8. Be sure your rig has recovery points on both ends, a spare tire, key for your wheel lock if equipped, jack to lift vehicle, and basic hand tools.
  9. Have fun in 4Low.

Unless advised otherwise, I will try to locate you guys at the coordinates above late Friday or early Saturday.
 
Well...

Craig and his son Patrick towed their FJ40 and traveled with their friend Ed in a CJ-2A to the designated campsite on Wednesday.

Ron & Evelyn (and K9 Bodie) in a FJ60, Carlos in a LX470, David in a LC100, and I in my LC80 met up on Thursday at Castaic Denny's and convoyed to our rendezvous point for a late lunch/early dinner before heading to camp. While David and Ron & Evelyn found shaded campsites amongst the trees, Carlos and I was shown a site with a beautiful 180-degree vista to camp.

On Friday, Craig/Patrick and Ed hit one of their favorite fishing hole. The rest of us drove to Dinkey Trailhead and hiked to Mystery Lake . Ron and Bodie got in the cool water. The rest of us skipped rocks and enjoyed the view before heading back to camp for the dinner and an evening by candle light.

Carl and two furry friends drove up Saturday morning in a LC200 to meet us. We enjoyed a quick breakfast before hitting the trail. The southern route to Bald Mountain was steep at spots and sprinkled with rocky ledges that really showed the true capability of our vehicles. We convoyed over the last few hundred feet on what seems to be a giant granite slab with rocky outcrops to the 8000+ft peak. We enjoyed the 360-degree view. I squinted really hard to look for Rich and his family relaxing by Shaver Lake and for a moment I thought I could see him waving back ;). We had lunch and took a group picture before taking the northern trail that looped around Cutts Meadow to the north before heading back to camp.

Back at camp after dinner, a blood moon greeted us for the evening as we gathered around our candles.

Sunday morning was filled with breakfast and beermosa! We departed camp as Carl made a stop at the creek. Craig, Ed and Patrick took time to pack. The rest of us convoyed to Fresno where we said our goodbyes before heading home.

… it was a great trip!
